Dawsongroup material handling has provided tailored solutions for Kudos Showers, reducing safety risks and improving storage capacity for their warehouse management.
Kudos Showers has brought innovation and quality to bathroom designs for more than twenty years. The team goes above and beyond to create quality products and every year, they use enough glass to build the Gherkin sixteen times. With their precision-engineered shower doors, enclosures and trays offering a luxurious experience for an excellent price, it’s no surprise that Kudos Showers has a great reputation for customer satisfaction.
A Safe, Fast Solution
After two decades of consistent growth and development, Kudos Showers joined forces with Dawsongroup material handling in 2019 to improve their process and storage capacity. Liam Baxter, Warehouse Manager for Kudos Showers, initially contacted Paul Hull, Area Sales Executive for Dawsongroup material handling, to find safe and convenient solutions for their site management.
The challenges facing Kudos Showers were two-fold: they required more storage space to keep up with growing demand, and they also needed a safe, fast solution for their glass panel transportation. After discussing Kudos Showers’ needs with the team at Dawsongroup material handling, a plan was agreed to improve storage space and warehouse safety.
Kudos Showers’ products are primarily made with glass panelling and the team transports 20,000 panels every month. In the past, each individual glass panel required a delicate transportation process, which was time consuming and could result in damaged products. Dawsongroup material handling found the perfect solution with special attachments for counterbalance forklift trucks.
“The new attachments have been a game changer,” said Liam. “They have reduced the amount of time we spend transporting glass around the warehouse without increasing the risk of the panels slipping. They have also improved safety, helping us to keep our staff safe and protect our assets. It’s been an ideal solution.”
Improving Capacity and Process Flow
Historically, Kudos Showers’ metal products could only be stacked on top of one another up to two metres high; however, this often caused damage to the products and didn’t provide enough space for the business’s needs. To increase accessible storage, Dawsongroup material handling provided Kudos with high reach articulated forklift trucks and specialised racking. These multi-purpose trucks are designed to work in the narrowest of aisles and with the highest of racking bays. For Kudos Showers, this extended their storage to eight metres in height, almost treble their original capacity.
“The solutions provided by Dawsongroup material handling enable us to feed our production line faster than ever before,” Liam said. “The convenient and safe storage and transportation of our key materials ensures we get our products to our customers quickly, so everyone is happy. Having the right equipment means that we can do the best job possible.”
Paul Hull said, “I am currently working with Kudos on a new concept to move the glass safely from the glass warehouse to the production line, again increasing efficiency and safety. We will also be using an electric counterbalance stacker to lower the carbon footprint of the facility.”
As Kudos Showers looks to the future, they are focusing on creating the most sustainable and environmentally friendly process possible. Part of this process will involve replacing their diesel- and gas-powered trucks with Dawsongroup material handling’s electric range, as well as taking steps to reduce their plastic packaging.
