Ashleigh leads her squadron in remembrance centenary!

On Sunday, the 11th of November, Ash Wilson (Material Handling Hire Fleet Administrator) took part in her annual remembrance Sunday parade. This being the 6th parade which Ash has been involved in, She travelled down to Lincoln on the Sunday morning to RAF Coningsby. Ash played an important role during the parade leading her squadron, firstly briefing them on the expectations for the service and secondly leading and directing the other air cadets into an orderly formation behind the RAF, with all the Scouts, Brownies and Rainbows following on behind in the parade. The reverend then started the service outside the Cenotaph in Coningsby. Ash and all the members of her squadron (17 Coningsby Squadron RAFAC) laid a cross with a name, in remembrance of those who served in past wars. They also held a 2 minute silence as the commanding officer of 17 Squadron played the Last Post. After the 2-minute silence, the parade commander ordered preperation for the march, Ash took her posistion at the front and led her squadron in a march towards the church.

The parade ended at the church where the service was held, which was neatly decorated with poppies made by local schools and organisations. The service involved making and collecting dontations to the church, singing hymns and listening to a choir. Ash was then in charge of debriefing her squadron on the success of the parade and thanked everyone for taking part. Ash said "she was proud to be able to lead her squadron in remembrance of those who served and looks forward to attending another parade as a uniformed member of staff next year."
